: Keep your Octopus card for your next Hong Kong visit as it is good for three years from the date of purchase.

If you are visiting Hong Kong for more than just a day, it is advisable to purchase an Octopus card. The card is rechargeable and works on all buses and across the MTR network as well as in a number of stores, such as branches of 7-Eleven.Simply buy the card at any MTR station for returnable HKD 50 deposit, charge it with your desired amount and then use it as you travel around the city. This is especially handy on buses, which only accept the correct change.
