If you are visiting Hong Kong for more than just a day, it is advisable to purchase an Octopus card. The card is rechargeable and works on all buses and across the MTR network as well as in a number of stores, such as branches of 7-Eleven.Simply buy the card at any MTR station for returnable HKD 50 deposit, charge it with your desired amount and then use it as you travel around the city. This is especially handy on buses, which only accept the correct change.

Latern Floating Hawai

As Memorial Day turned to dusk, more than 42,000 people gathered in Honolulu to send 6,000 floating,candlelit lanterns out into the ocean. Each one contained a handwritten note, prayer or photo and was dedicated to a loved one who has passed away.

New Taipei City, Taiwan


Beginning on the evening of the first full moon of the Lunar New Year (February 22 in 2016) an estimated 100,000 to 200,000 glowing orange rice paper lanterns are released into the night sky above the square. The lanterns carry festival participants’ handwritten wishes, prayers, and vows for the year ahead, which according to the Chinese lunar calendar is the Year of the Monkey.
