Derweze in Turkmenistan


It is a natural gas site. Soviet geologists tapped into a cavern filled with natural gas while drilling at the site in 1971.Ground beneath the drilling rig collapsed, leaving a hole with a diameter of 70 metres.
Fearing that the hole would lead to the release of poisonous gases, the team burnt it off.
It was hoped that the fire would use all the fuel within days, but the gas is still burning today.

Chamarel Seven Coloured Earth - Mauritius


The seven colored earth is a natural phenomenon and a prominent tourist attraction. The colors evolved through conversion of basaltic lava to clay minerals.
It is a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours (approximately red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow).

Sunrise is the best time to see the Coloured Earths.
